TEAM KELSEY: Lose It by Austra

Brought to my attention a couple of months ago by my friend Silvana in Sweden, Austra, a Toronto-based trio, has been on constant rotation ever since. I don’t really know what else to say about this, other than I love it. A lot. Goth + electronic + opera, who knew you’d make such beautiful babies? Plus they have a glitter gun, that always helps. 10/10

Coming off of Coachella, it’s hard to think that A$AP doesn’t even have an actual album out yet. Well wait no further, he’s released a track off of his upcoming album, LongLiveA$AP called Goldie. It’s sick, but I’m still waitin on that Lana del Rey track. Can’t wait for this album to be released.

TEAM CAPTAIN Theraflu ft. DJ Khaled by Kanye West

Team Jo found this one but her internet is down… So I get to post it YAAAY! This beat reminds me of Niggas In Paris in the fact that I’ll probably get over pretty quickly. Fun while it’s new but I like a little variety in my drum. Nothing special. 5/10

JOVO: Ok finally snuck off to a Starbucks to listen to this song. It’s aight. I feel like if I heard this multiple times on the radio, I would get sick of it really quickly. Not Yeezy’s best but not his worst either. And for the record, I still love Niggas in Paris solely because of this. There is not a music video in the world that goes harder than that music video.

TEAM CAPTAIN Cudi the Kid by Steve Aoki ft. Kid Cudi & Travis Barker

Put Asian Jesus on a track with Cudder and the drummer for Blink 182? Worth a shot, right? I’ve given this song three out of it’s 300 views while deciding how I actually feel about it and I’ve already switched from absolutely hating it to giving it a good head bob. Cudi’s lyrics are a bit mediocre and the video is pretty silly, but hey. It’s not the worst thing I’ve seen/heard in recent times. Can’t stop, wont stop. 7/10

TEAM KELSEY: Adieu by Coure de Pirate

In honor of all things French (might be taking on full Francophile status over here), a little diddy from Couer de Pirate. Where do you sign up for this power to blow up all your nemesis into confetti and watermelon? Or is that just a French thing? 9/10

JoVo: All this French is making me look up how much Rosetta Stone is. 8/10 

Dan: I’m more upset that no one ever told me about this, before. 7/10 

The Captain: Pretty fun song but it never fully grabs me. 6/10

After a trying 3 days (AND COUNTING) without internet, I log onto Tumblr while stealing the internet at Starbucks to find THIS gem. Thank god. Too much new music. Very excited to hear the full version.

Kelsey: Is it jumping the gun a bit to have started formulating my ‘Best Artists of 2012’ list in April? I think these two (A$AP & Lana) might find their place somewhere on there. This is golden! 9/10

Make it Right - Village on Yarn

TEAM DAN:
This is really great, you guys. Village on Yarn is a “progressive-folk(?)” band out of Stockton, CA, and we have the exclusive stream of a song of their new album, due to be officially released on April 7th.

This is my favorite song off the new album, and it displays everything I like about this band. It’s smart, but not pretentious, catchy but not bubblegummy, complex with out being complicated, and most of all… it’s just really good. 

The arrangements, done by Nic Chang, are insanely good, and compliment ever twist and turn of vocalists’, Saki Uemura, melodies.  

What do you guys think? It’s so great, right? 

JOVO: 100% agree. This album is fantastic. I listened to the entire thing several times when Fan Daughnder sent it to me.

TEAM KELSEY: Falling Star (R3K Remix) by Kid Cudi

Not a HUGE fan of Kid Cudi, but this song mixed with the glorious vocals of Florence + The Machine are really doin’ it for me. R3K (aka Riley Keating) reigns from Boulder, Colorado and has some other mixes you can find here, and they’re all FREE (!!!) to download.  Been listening to this on trains a lot lately, highly recommended. 9/10

The Captain: I love most things with Florence + The Machine …Besides Florence + The Machine: Live. 7/10

TEAM JOVO:  I Think I Like It by Fake Blood

I just really love this video because it epitomizes everything that runs through my head while working retail. And even though it’s an old song, that Arabesque disco sample gets me every time. 8/10

Kelsey: Did she just pour coffee out of that wig? Sold. As for the song, a little long/repetitive for me, but I like the beat and sample for the first minute thirty at least. 6/10

The Captain: This was one of the songs that started the Electro Radio Boom in like, 2008. Oldie but goodie. +Points for video. 8/10
